This city utilizes the council-manager government model. Under this form of city government, a city manager who is nominated by the city mayor, but if elected by the council is utilized. The mayor, who presides over all city council meetings, cannot veto any measure passed by the City Council. McCall is a part of the first congressional district of Idaho. The Star News and Long Valley Advocate are published weekly on Thursday and Wednesday respectively. This city also is home to one radio station. 98.3 FM.
